  • Neener 2(012)

This video is made to take viewers into the recording of our band’s album Neener 2. Jessica and I discuss instruments, styles and process as the movie intersperses interview sessions with musical clips from the album over footage of sights around Cleveland from industrial blocks to rail bridges to police lights to Lake Erie. • Big Parrot Millet part 2

When we left off last time, the parakeets seemed ambivalent about the millet spray packaged for bigger parrots–they were mostly just flying around then. However as we see in this episode (shot the next day) Sparty, Belle and eventually Dodger decide that they will gladly snack on that treat now. (View on Youtube.)

  • Big Parrot Millet part 1

One day recently I returned home with millet spray labeled for larger parrots. Of course, I have parakeets, which brings up an interesting question–will they eat it? It’s not entirely clear as part one draws to a close. (View on Youtube.)

  • Train Bird

Jessica and I play soccer as a train goes by (in Lakewood, Ohio), parakeet Belle is flapping while flock mate Dodger is dancing, as we play some new music by our band Neener. View the video on Youtube.

  • Podcast 52

This video is only a little over a minute but it includes Jessica at Lakewood Park, a bird bathing in a puddle on the road, a finch evading the rain on the window’s edge, and then parakeets Belle, Sparty and Dodger–including slow motion flying. [link to the video on Youtube]

A new video podcast from pacificpelican.us is here, after a months-long hiatus. It’s a little more than two minutes and features Jessica, me, the birds, and some Indians fans and more including us talking in a restaurant. The soundtrack is taken from Jessica and my new album, Neener 1. If you want more videos with […]

  • Podcast 50

We cap off season 4 with a podcast that starts with Jessica and me, along with ducks, in a couple parks in Columbus; then we check in on parakeets Belle and Sparty as they perch on their repurposed CD rack and tweet; as the video moves on we see Jessica walking around Central Park with […]

  • podcast 46 – Cactus Juice

Jessica and I go out in Lakewood, the music about moonshine plays, and the dancing begins! Belle and Sparty the parakeets fly around the house. Then we take a trip across the river to the Coventry area of the east side, after seeing massed seagulls in a steel lands rail yard. And before we’re done, […]

  • podcast 45 – goose landing

The video opens with a brief discussion of geese and Ava the parakeet. Then a trip from Lakewood through a wintry Cleveland continues: from a lady looking for a party in Gordon Square to Jessica walking in the snow in Rocky River to a freezing festival on Columbus Street to a drive through snowed-out neighborhoods […]

  • Birdsong

When we travel and take our parakeets, the birds can get very chirpy and talkative–or very quiet. But when they’re settled into the normal rhythms of home, they often break out into beautiful song. This short clip captures just a glimpse of their pretty phrasing and pleasing tone. You can see more about our birds […]
